Tatang-Mitra-Setia

Dr. Tatang Mitra Setia, M.Si.

Born in Palembang, South Sumatera on October 26, 1958. He completed his elementary to high school in Pekanbaru, Riau. In 1978, he continued his studies at the Faculty of Biology at Universitas Nasional, Jakarta, and obtained a Bachelor of Biology in 1986. He continued his Master’s program at the University of Indonesia with a concentration in Community Ecology and graduated with a Masters in Biology in 1995. Then he graduated with a Doctoral degree in Biology from the University of Indonesia in 2015.

Since 1988 until now he has been a permanent lecturer at the Faculty of Biology at Universitas Nasional and since 2016 has been the Head of Master Program in Biology and also teaches at the Biology Master’s Program, Graduate School of Universitas Nasional. From December 2019 until now he has been the Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Universitas Nasional.

Apart from teaching duties, he is also actively involved in field biology activities related to biodiversity conservation; biodiversity and primate research activities; environmental education and nature conservation; community service around the conservation area; as a resource person for Conservation Biology and Animal Behavior and Primatology; as a Reviewer of several national and international journals; Research grant reviewer and active in the field of photography.

In the organization: active as a Member of the Central PBI and PBI Jakarta Branch Management and as a Member of MIKOINA. Since 2003 as a Member of the Research Team of the UNAS-Rutgers University Cooperation, UNAS-Zurich University, UNAS at the Tuanan Central Kalimantan Research Station and the Suaq Balimbing Research Station, Gunung Leuser National Park, South Aceh and since 2018 as a Member of the Research Team of the UNAS- Boston University, UNAS-Michigan University at the Panti Branch Research Station, Gunung Palung National Park, West Kalimantan.
